Yep, we got it back again! This is a very limited offering and we were only able to get one bag. If you didn't get a chance to try last year's lot, don't miss out this year.
In 2020 the farmer, Mr. Tekleye, won 15th place in the Cup of Excellence awards in Ethiopia, he also placed 4th in an outstanding coffee farmers competition in the district.
Farmer: Mr Tekleye Bogale
This offering comes from a different part of Ethiopia where we have not sourced from in the past. The West Arsi region is an area that boarders Sidama(o) & Guji and just north of the Gedeo (Yirgacheffe) region. All of these areas have produced some of the most interesting and flavorful coffees in the world. This West Arsi offering stands strong against those more well known regions.
This coffee has a beautiful bright cherry and light floral note upon first taste. It is very clean and smooth with green tea (herbal) like notes. It has an amazing raspberry brightness but very well balanced and easy to drink.
The farmer, Mr. Tekleye Bogale, has been working in coffee for most of his life. In 1966, Mr. Tekleye's father moved to Nensebo from Northern Shewa in Central Ethiopia, bringing the rest of his family with him shortly after. Growing up around coffee, Mr. Tekleye remembers many industry challenges that his family farm has faced over the years. From 1971-1975 their farm was devastated by a fungus outbreak. In 1988, new disease-resistant varieties had made their way to Nensebo, and farmers, including Mr. Tekleye and his father, began planting (and harvesting) from those special varietals.
